Definition

Anime and carbonic compounds in which ammonia is derived from one or more hydrogen atoms,

namely, alkyl or aryl groups, which means that amines are derived from ammonia.

Classification of Amine

  • Hydrocarbon derivatives of ammonia are called amines.

  • These are divided into three parts 

    • Primary Amine ( 1° Amine )

    • Secondary Amine ( 2° Amine )

    • Tertiary Amine ( 3° Amine )



Primary Amine ( 1° Amine )

  • When ammonia is replaced by a hydrogen atom with an alkyl group, it is called 1° amine.

When two hydrogen atoms in ammonia are replaced by two alkyl groups, secondary amines are obtained.
